What’s included

  • Three OFDA 2000 analyses (shoulder / mid-side / breech) with correction factor and Trim High ON, same as F-A.
  • Three PDF reports (one per site) plus a comparative reading of uniformity (mean diameter, SD, CV, comfort factor, curvature, etc.).
  • Histograms and “along fibre” micron profiles for each site.
  • Indicative turnaround : 1–2 weeks off-peak ; up to 1–2 months in shearing season.

Why a 3-point grid?

A single mid-side sample does not tell the whole story. Comparing three body zones measures diameter variation across the fleece — useful for selection, lot sorting and spinning quality.

How to sample the 3 sites

  1. Shoulder — front flank, near the shoulder.
  2. Mid-side — mid-height flank between fore and hind (reference site).
  3. Breech / rear — posterior zone (hip / rump).

Per site : about a handful (small fist ≈ 5 cm), cut close to the skin, sample must be dry.

Packaging — 3 envelopes

  • Put each site in an unsealed, unstapled envelope.
  • Clearly label : animal name/number + site (shoulder / mid-side / breech).
  • Group all 3 envelopes in one parcel.

OFDA 2000 fibre test — Fibre Lab metrological control programme (charter v3.0)

Measurement on the OFDA 2000 in staple mode, according to the recognised optical method IWTO-47. Documented internal checks every test day and for every batch. Fibre Lab is not an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory and does not hold an IWTO licence: rigor rests on the procedure below, not on an external label.

How we stand behind the result

  • Daily OFDA 2000 autotest on internal calibration fibres (10–100 µm). Outside manufacturer tolerance = no client testing.
  • One batch reference staple (max deviation 0.3 µm on mean diameter).
  • Weekly inter-series check on archive samples (same 0.3 µm threshold).
  • Options always shown on the report: washing, correction factor, Trim High.
  • If a check falls outside limits: testing stops until control is restored.

A result is only meaningful if the process is the same from one batch to the next. Our charter describes that process.
